Darwin's sanddab is found only around Isla Isabela in the Galapagos, where seasonal upwelling of cold deep water and unusually light sedimentation create conditions found nowhere else nearby. A small flatfish of about six centimetres, it lies flat on the bottom with both eyes on its upper side. Its tiny range leaves it data deficient.
