Why is there no air consumption?

It's worked out from what you logged, so sometimes it sits one out. Here's what it needs.

Air consumption (SAC) isn't stored with your dive, it's worked out from the numbers you logged. When one of those numbers is missing, we leave it blank rather than show you a figure we can't stand behind.

What a dive needs

For the number to show up:

• how long you were down
• how deep you went
• at least one bottom cylinder with its size and both pressures

Fill in whatever's missing and it appears. Usually it's the cylinder size, which is an easy thing to skip when you're logging on a moving boat.

Note: air consumption is shown in liters per minute, whatever units you use elsewhere in the app.

Rebreather dives

If your kit list includes a diluent cylinder, we skip air consumption for that dive altogether. A loop doesn't burn gas the way open circuit does, so any figure we showed you would be invented.

Deco and bailout bottles

Only your bottom gas counts toward the number. A deco bottle gets breathed at your stop, and folding it into the sum would make your consumption look worse on exactly the dives you'd most want to study.

Note: stage bottles do count, since that's bottom gas in practice.

Why your Passport number is different

Your Passport shows a typical rate across everything you've logged, taken from the middle of your dives so one unusual one can't drag it around. It's answering a different question, so it won't match the dive in front of you.
