Answers about logging dives, importing your logbook, and everything else.
Dive Logging
- Can I log dives without a signal? — Saving works with no signal at all. Picking the dive site is the one part that doesn't.
- Logging a dive from a past trip — Set the date yourself in step 2, and use the local time at the dive site so it lands on the right day.
- Editing or deleting a dive — The pencil on a dive edits it and a long press in your logbook deletes it. Here's what each one changes.
- My dive site isn't listed — Add it yourself without leaving the log. Your dive saves right away, review happens later.
- Logging tanks, nitrox and trimix — Cylinders, mixes and pressures are real fields on a dive, not something to bury in your notes.
- Adding a buddy to a dive — Name the diver you were in the water with, and see what lands on their side.
- Where does my dive count start? — Dive numbers aren't stored, they're counted, so number 1 is the oldest dive in your logbook.
- Why is there no air consumption? — It's worked out from what you logged, so sometimes it sits one out. Here's what it needs.
- Is this depth graph my dive? — Sometimes it's your recorded curve, and sometimes it's a standard illustration carrying your real numbers.
Imports & Dive Computers
- Bringing dives from another app — Export a file from your old app, hand it to us, and review the dives before they join your logbook.
- Exporting from your old app — Where the export lives in Subsurface, MacDive, Shearwater, Garmin, Suunto and the rest.
- What's waiting in Incoming? — Dives that arrived from somewhere else wait in Incoming until you decide about them.
- My Apple Watch dives are missing — Watch dives come in through the Health app, so here's what to check when nothing shows up.
- Connecting your Suunto account — Link Suunto once and new dives come across on their own. Here's the setup, and what to do when it stops.
- The same dive logged twice — Divemates flags repeats before you save, and you can point an arriving dive at one you already logged.
- My import failed — Nothing was added to your logbook. Here's how to see why, and what to send us.
- My imported dives look wrong — Usually it's the units the file was read in, or the time zone. Both are quickest to fix before you save.
Friends & Buddies
- Adding a friend — Friends happen through an invite link. Here's how to send one, accept one, and unstick one that won't open.
- A friend added me to their dive — Their invitation waits in Incoming with three answers, and nothing joins your logbook until you pick one.
Account
- Turning off notifications — Mute a whole group, or just its emails, in Settings. Here's what each group sends.
Dive Sites, Shops & Marine Life
- Searching by a site or shop code — EG-BLU is a dive site's code. Type it, or any part of it, and search goes straight there.
- Reporting a wrong site or shop — Wrong coordinates, a dead phone number, a name nobody uses? Flag it in a few taps.
Troubleshooting
- My sign-in code never arrived — Usually it's the spam folder or a typo in the address. Here's the order to check things in.
- My dives aren't syncing — A dive lives on the phone you logged it on until it goes up. Here's how to get it moving.
- I'm not getting notifications — Three things decide whether a notification reaches you. Check them in this order.
- Getting help from a human — Email us, from Settings or from a browser. Here's what to put in the message.
Vault
- Adding a certification — Add your training cards in the Vault, including the ones our catalog hasn't heard of.
- Showing your eCard to a dive shop — Open the eCard, let them scan the QR, and take it back whenever you want.
- Your card in Apple or Google Wallet — Add your diver card once, and it keeps itself current as you dive.
Privacy & Your Data
- What a shop sees on your eCard — Your name, your certifications and your dive count. Not your logbook, and not your account.
- Downloading your logbook — Your dives download as a CSV from the Divemates website, not from the app. Here's where it is.
- Deleting your account — Ask in the app or on the web, then confirm through an emailed link. Here's what goes and what stays.
