Showing your eCard to a dive shop

Open the eCard, let them scan the QR, and take it back whenever you want.

Open Divemates → your profile photo → eCard. The QR sits just under your card: hold it out, the shop scans it with their phone camera, and your card opens right there on their phone. Nothing to install, no account to make, no sign-up at the desk.

Sending it instead of showing it

Under the QR is a Share button that hands over the same card as a link, which is what you want when you're booking ahead by email or message rather than standing at the counter.

The link and the QR are the same key, so the card opens for whoever is holding either one. That's exactly what makes it quick at the desk, and worth remembering everywhere else.

Note: the Share button on the card itself sends a picture of your card instead, so use the one under the QR when you want a link somebody can open.

Away from a signal

Your card and its code live on your phone, so they come up on a boat, on a liveaboard, and in a shop with thick walls. The shop's phone does need a connection, since that's where your card is read from.

Taking it back

Use the sharing menu beside the close button at the top of the eCard.

  • Get New Code issues a fresh QR and link. Every copy of the old one stops working the moment you confirm, screenshots and forwarded messages included, and if you keep your diver card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, it picks up the new code on its own.
  • Turn Off Sharing takes the card down altogether. Anyone who scans is told the card isn't available, and the QR leaves your own screen until you pick Turn On Sharing from the same menu.

Both of those are changes on our side rather than on your phone, so they need a connection to go through.

Note: sharing is on from the start, so your card is scannable the first time you open it.

What they'll see

Your name and photo, your certifications, how much diving you've done, and the insurance a shop actually asks about. Your logbook is not on it. See "What a shop sees on your eCard" for the field by field list.
