Reporting a wrong site or shop
Wrong coordinates, a dead phone number, a name nobody uses? Flag it in a few taps.
Open the dive site or dive shop in Divemates, tap the More (…) button in the bar at the bottom, and choose Report Data Issue. That is the whole route, and it works on any listing in the catalog.
Sending a report
Divemates → the dive site or shop → More (…) → Report Data Issue
The form shows what we currently hold, field by field, so you can see what we got wrong. Tap a field to flag it, add a note if you know the right answer, then tap Send.
Two things that save you typing:
- A field we hold nothing for reads "Wrong or missing", so an empty phone number is just as reportable as a wrong one.
- A flagged field arrives with the value we currently hold attached to it, so you never have to copy what's on screen into your note.
A note on its own is a perfectly good report. Send only wakes up once you've flagged something or written something.
Note: the form loads fresh every time you open it, so this one needs a signal. With no bars you'll get "Couldn't load the form", and nothing is kept, so send it once you're back in range.
What you can flag
On a dive site: the name, dive type, entry type, difficulty, coordinates, city and country, and the body of water.
On a dive shop: the name, shop type, coordinates, address, city and country, and the phone, email, website, Instagram and Facebook.
Anything without a row of its own goes in the note: a shop that has closed, the same site listed twice under two names, a pin that sits in the wrong bay. We read those.
What happens to it
You get a "Report sent" confirmation, and that's the last you'll hear about it: reports don't get a reply. A person reads it, and nothing on the listing changes at the moment you tap Send.
That's on purpose. A site or shop listing is shared with every diver on Divemates, so a correction goes through us rather than straight into the catalog. When it's applied, you'll see it the next time you open the listing.
If it isn't listed at all
Then there's nothing to report against, and this isn't the route. You add a missing dive site yourself while logging the dive: see "My dive site isn't listed". For a dive shop we don't have, tell us and we'll look at adding it.
